THE MECCA TOUR

We introduced the RaiderMecca Tour as part of the 2000 event, really as an experiment to see how it would do. It was outstanding in every way. We briefly met coaches, players and have had front office people such as Al Locasale and Bruce Allen take time out fromn their busy schedules to speak to us. Each and every person who has joined the Mecca Tour knows perfectly well that the Raiders take care of their fans.

Last year's tour was put together at the last minute. The costs involved and the time required (to hire chartered buses/collect money/deal with the inevitiable complications) causes us to may prevent the tour this year. But if we do put the Mecca Tour event together, we will require that everyone sign up ahead of time (maybe as late as the Friday before the event - in person). We may have a bus chartered or we may not. But regardless, we will require a NON-REFUNDABLE fee to get your name on the list. We're going to do this to make sure you are serious. The NON-REFUNDABLE is providing an event is held. If for any reason the Tour is cancelled, full refunds will be provided. A sign up sheet and collections will be detailed as we develp plans.

EVENT FOR 2004 IS A GO! We've just got word that the 2004 Tour is a "go" with the Raiders. We will leave via RaiderMecca Caravan for the first stops of the tour at approximately noon on Saturday. Details on the full itinerary coming soon. The staging area will be the Comfort Inn. We will have a schedule to keep to, so please don't be late. Therefore, we ask everyone who has booked to be at the Comfort Inn by 8.15am.

Watch for future announcements at this RaiderMecca.com.

The RAIDER IMAGE STORE

For a number of years, the Raiders have opened their Raider Image Store located at Raiders Headquarters. In 2003 we were suprised by an invitation to a Raider Image Grand Opening near the Oakland Coliseum. There we were greeted by Raiders legend Jim Otto and a couple Raiderettes. We may be back at the Hqtr Raider Image or do a satellite visit. All part of the tour. Each year we've received great discounts from the Raiders for anyone who is on the bus. This year we should get the same great treatment.

This is your chance to pick up all your goodies from the Official Source - jerseys, caps, T-shirts, and all the cheap st... we mean souvenir items you need to take back to family and friends.

And every year, the fans taking part on the Mecca Tour gear up. We spend literally thousands and thousands, picking up great Raider gear to wear now and to take back home. Nothing like getting gear at the same place the players do.

The OAKLAND RAIDERS FACILITY

Undoubtedly the biggest surprise for those on the tour last year (and, to be honest, us as well: we weren't entirely sure what was going to happen until we got there, but what did happen was far beyond anything we'd asked about!).

This year, being battle-hardened veterans, we put this one at the top of the priority list. We have not yet received confirmation of the Raider Facility Tour for this year. Keep visiting because we will provide an update as soon as we have notification in hand from the Organization. And unless something dramatic happens to the contrary, we will again have Ultimate Raider Fan access! See the film rooms, locker rooms, the practise fields... it's all here. We don't have to tell you that this is where it ALL comes down!!

Additional Tour Stops?

Possibilities: The ENGLANDER / The LONG BRANCH

The Englander has perhaps the largest range of beers on tap in the entire Bay Area: all the domestics, loads of beers from local microbreweries and possibly the largest range of imports you've ever seen. Try the 4 beer "sampler" if you're not sure what you want, although you'll find us propping up the end of the bar with the overflowing steins of Hofmeister ;-)

The Long Branch has been a regular tour stop for many seasons now. This bar is the hole in the wall home to the Black Hole. If we do visit the Long Branch it won't be for the breakfast Bloody Marys or the breakfast Black Hole shooters... stay tuned.

We may be planning an additional tour stop. Stay tuned. We'll announce it as soon as we know ourselves.

A few important words concerning the tour...

  • If you're not booked on the tour, your chances are slim of getting a place if you wait. Do it now!. If there are any spots left available, they will be sold on a first-come first-served basis: just ask one of the organizers for details.

  • Even if you can't get a place on the tour, you're welcome to join us at the The Englander and Long Branch. However, the Facility Tour is strictly limited to those who are on the Mecca Tour list. You will not be admitted at either of these locations.

  • When you visit the Raiders Facility, act responsibly. Remember we are guests, and the Raiders staff are extending us a courtesy (as well as a huge favor). If you behave like an a**hole, it reflects badly on all of us, and it jeopardizes any future visits and maybe our whole relationship with the Organization. But it will never get that far: we won't let it happen. You won't even get in the door. Bear this in mind throughout the day, especially when considering your alcohol consumption.
